RAND HRS Family Data Files Release for the 1992 through 2012 Core Waves (v.2012)

The RAND HRS Family Data Files Release for the 1992 through 2012 Core Waves (v.2012) is now available.

The RAND HRS Family data file is a user-friendly version of HRS family data. The data contain a cleaned, processed, and streamlined collection of variables related to the family of the respondent. The files described here include characteristics of all children of HRS respondents and spouses, and summary measures of parents and siblings of respondents.

These data are linked across waves and organized into two longitudinal files: one with respondent-child observations and one with respondent observations containing summary variables about the children, parents, and siblings of the respondent.

The RAND HRS Family Data Release (Version 2012) file contains data for thirteen waves, including the years 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, and 2012. The files incorporate only the core interviews. They do not include exit interview data or any restricted data.

They were developed by the RAND Center for the Study of Aging.

Note: Be sure to check the HRS File Merge Cross-Reference Table for up-to-date information on the restricted data merge status of this data set.
