Abstract

The brief’s key findings are:
Our recent research suggests that older retirement investors tend to be overly pessimistic about stocks.
Using new survey data, we explore how financial advisors can help with stock allocation decisions.
The results show that, for investors with average risk tolerance, advisors tend to recommend higher allocations than investors prefer.
But this advice is likely beneficial as it reflects advisors’ more accurate assessment of market risks and returns.
