Abstract

This technical report describes the sample design, design-based weighting and analysis procedures for the Aging, Demographics and Memory Study (ADAMS), a national study that recruited Health and Retirement Study (HRS) panel members to undergo a psychometric evaluation and clinical assessment visit. Langa et al. (2005) describe the general design and methods for the ADAMS including relevant background on the HRS longitudinal sample. This document provides additional detail on the sample design for the ADAMS including a description of survey sample selection, sample attrition and nonresponse, population weights, design-based variance estimation and related topics of importance to analysts of the ADAMS data.
