Abstract

This paper describes what data are available, what questions can be addressed by, and how one can gain access to data sets of interest to economists. The HRS and AHEAD are written up under the 'Longitudinal and Household Surveys of Health Status and Health Care Use' section of the paper. The paper summarizes both studies, explains their longitudinal nature, and describes the data used. The HRS and AHEAD represent an incredibly rich source of information on the health and economic behavior of individuals nearing retirement.
