Research and Projects
Jody Schimmel Hyde’s research focuses on the economic self-sufficiency and independence of people with disabilities across the life course, with a particular interest in the relationship between disability and employment and the role of public programs to support financial independence. Prior to her current role, she worked at Mathematica, where among other projects, she worked under contract from the Social Security Administration, with a focus on eligibility for, application to, and receipt of federal disability benefits. She is an expert in SSA administrative data to understand disability program participation and work activity among disability beneficiaries.
