The HRS 2015 Life History Mail Survey (LHMS) contains questions about residential history, education history, and other important childhood and family events. The LHMS is part of the Health and Retirement Study (HRS), which is funded under a cooperative agreement between the National Institute on Aging (NIA) and the Survey Research Center at the University of Michigan.
The 2015 Life History Mail Survey Residential History Detail Level Data includes city-, state-, and ZIP-code-level geographic information for each residence reported by the respondent, beginning at birth and ending with the respondent’s current residence at the time the questionnaire was completed.
The field period for the 2015 LHMS was December 2015 through August 2016. The data file contains multiple residential history records, totaling 38,830 records, for respondents who completed and returned a 2015 LHMS questionnaire, including questionnaires completed by proxies when applicable. The file is sorted by Household ID (HHID), Person Number (PN), and the questionnaire line number used by the respondent for Question 5 (ENTRY).
This version supersedes the previously released version of the 2015 LHMS Residential History Detail Level Data.
