2017-19 Life History Mail Survey (LHMS) Job History Imputation and O*NET Data

This release includes two restricted datasets.

Job_History_Imputed_1719 provides detailed job history information for individuals who participated in the 2017 or 2019 Life History Mail Survey (LHMS). The dataset complements the retrospective job histories collected in LHMS, which document up to ten jobs lasting at least one year after completion of full-time education, by incorporating prospectively collected employment information from the core Health and Retirement Study (HRS). For each job spell, the dataset reports start and end year, occupation (Census 2010 classification), industry (Census 2007 classification), and full-time or part-time status. Because the data contain detailed, non-harmonized information, access is restricted. Standard HRS identification variables are included to facilitate linkage with other HRS public and restricted data products.

Job_History_ONET_1719 is a panel dataset that links occupational characteristics from O*NET (version 26.1) to the employment histories of individuals who participated in the 2017 or 2019 LHMS. The linkage between occupational characteristics and employment histories relies on FSU-UM Census 2010-O*NET 26.1 Data. Using occupation codes reported in the job history data, this file provides annual measures describing Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, Work Activities, Work Context, Work Values and Job Zones. The dataset enables researchers to incorporate detailed occupational attributes into analyses of employment histories and career trajectories.
